What is Spaceweather?

Space weather is an automated weather programme, based off information published by the the NOAA’s  space weather prediction center (SWPC). It is created and broadcast daily.

You can listen to Space weather live on Utter Radio at the top of the hour between 22:00 and 02:00.

To listen out of hours, or read todays transcript, visit the Spaceweather site.

How does Spaceweather work?

  1. A space weather overview for the last 24 hours is issued by the NOAA.

  1. The OzVa server acquires the overview and adapts it for use in the weather report.

  1. The server generates the background track using the recorded flux and electron correction.

  1. The final audio file is generated for broadcast.

  1. Utter radio’s scheduling system accesses the file for broadcast.
