This year's lineup for Sports Personality of the Year features two Lionesses in Hannah Hampton and Chloe Kelly, Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris, golfer Rory McIlroy ,darts prodigy Luke Littler and England rugby union player Ellie Kildunne.

All six athletes will go head-to-head for the prestigious British award, which is judged on how much of a significant impact a sportsperson has made throughout the year; whether that is through their influence or performances. The British public will be able to vote to decide who wins the Sports Personality of the Year award on the 18th of December where the ceremony will be held at MediaCityUK in
Salford.
The first of the nominees is footballer Hannah Hampton, who played an integral part in the Lionesses triumph in the European Championships. Hampton, 25, made heroic saves in the penalty shoot-out against Spain. Hampton also went on to receive the Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper at this year’s Ballon D’or ceremony in Paris.

The second nominee is England footballer Chloe Kelly who scored the winning penalty in the historic penalty shoot-out win over Spain in the 2025 European Championship final. Kelly was one of the standout players both internationally and domestically after her move to Arsenal in the Women’s Super League.

The third nominee is Rugby Union back Ellie Kildunne who played a vital role in England clinching the Rugby World Cup on home soil. She scored multiple tries in big semi- final and final matches and aided England on their way to a victory in the Six Nations. Kildunne is making waves in the sporting world, becoming the first female rugby union player nominated for this inaugural award.

The fourth nominee is darts sensation Luke Littler. At just 17, Littler became the youngest winner of the prestigious World Darts Championship completing the PDC Triple Crown winning both the Premier League and Matchplay titles alongside this. He became a British icon and only the fifth player to ever complete the Triple Crown joining legends such as Phil Taylor and Van Gerwen.

The fifth nominee is golfer Rory McIlroy who emerged victorious in the 2025 Masters and completed a career Grand Slam, making him only the fourth golfer ever to do so. The Northern Irishman also contributed to a European team that, despite hostile atmospheres, won the Ryder Cup against the United States back in September.

Lando Norris is the final nomination for this year's award. The McLaren Formula One driver became the 11th British driver to win the Drivers' Championship after a dramatic finale in Abu Dhabi. Norris, 26, became the first McLaren driver to win the world title
since 2008, as well as helping them win both FIA championships.
