The England duo Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden are back in the squad following recent October omissions. Alex Scott also receives his first England call-up whilst Welbeck misses out.

Earlier today, Thomas Tuchel announced his England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, though England have already qualified winning all six games so far.

Included was Phil Foden, who has not been in an England squad since March. His two goals against Borussia Dortmund topped off a good run of form for Manchester City saw him recalled as Guardiola has said he is ‘back to his best’. There has been a debate over Foden’s best position for England and Thomas Tuchel has cleared up where he will play, as he said: “I don’t see him as a winger anymore.

“He should have a central role.”

Jude Bellingham was another star previously omitted. Having performed well for Real Madrid, including scoring in the El Classico against Barcelona, Thomas Tuchel is ‘delighted’ to have him back in the squad ‘as a number 20’.

There was perhaps a surprising inclusion for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. He won the u21 Euro’s with England in the summer where Thomas Tuchel today said he was ‘excellent with Elliot Anderson’. He also said: “He has come a long way.

He will get a number 8 role and hopefully he can prove us right and show his personality”.

Other inclusions were Adam Wharton, Crystal Palace midfielder, who ‘deserves’ the call up. However, his injury concerns are a worry for Tuchel, who hopes ‘he stays fit this time’.

Nico O’Reilly has replaced Myles Lewis Skelly in the squad, based off minutes and O’Reilly’s impressive displays for England, though for those omitted in the squad, the ‘door is always open’. Emitted alongside Myles Lewis Skelly were James Trafford, Morgan Gibbs-White, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ollie Watkins.

The Aston Villa striker has been excluded due to not being fully fit and needing some time to rest, leaving Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane as the only out-and-out striker in the squad.

Thomas Tuchel has reiterated that “No one needs to be nervous, we have a lot of good strikers”, saying that Watkins is one of those. He has added that in this squad, both Gordon and Rashford are capable of playing there whilst Bellingham and Foden can help in the number 9 positions.

Tuchel was also asked about whether he has started thinking about what the World Cup squad may look like, but he denied that and said that he would not start thinking about it until after these November fixtures.

He also confirmed that there have been conversations about him staying on as England boss after the World Cup in America next year.
