A fire occurred at the University of Salford accommodation on Monday evening.
At around 7:05pm on Monday evening, fire engines arrived at Salford University due to a fire in the washing room. Four fire engines attended the matter.
The fire was in the building by the main reception of the Delaney 1 building.
Students in both Delaney buildings were evacuated and had to wait outside for an hour whilst emergency services dealt with the matter.
The accommodation is managed by Campus Living Villages.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 7.10pm today (Monday 19 January), six fire engines from across Greater Manchester attended a building fire involving a tumble dryer in a communal laundry room at a high-rise building on University Road, Salford.
“Crews wearing breathing apparatus arrived quickly and are using a gas monitor and two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Firefighters remain in attendance at this time.”
Emergency services left the scene at 9:00pm.
