After almost a month in the jungle Angry Ginge takes the victory!
The final this evening saw the crowning of a new King. Salford's very own Angry Ginge, also known as Morgan, was crowned in spectacular fashion, after receiving the most votes from the public.
This years vote was the biggest in around ten years with over 13 million voters.
The Twitch streamer is best known for his online content creation and livestreams. However he traded video gaming in Salford to taking on gruelling and difficult challenges. It all appeared to pay off for him though, as he was crowned King of the Jungle.
In the jungle, Ginge shared a calmer and empathetic side to what is usually seen on his streams. Whilst still being the class clown, Ginge came across as authentic and genuine, caring deeply for his campmates. He was open with his feelings of homesickness, especially missing his mum. However, he persevered on throughout the challenges. When seeing his mum during his time in the jungle, a hilarious and relatable moment came, as his mum forgot some vital information, leaving Ginge heartbroken - the football results.
Despite his victory, his time in the jungle wasn’t always easy. Difficulty struck for Ginge as he clashed with several campmates, regarding washing up and chores. He became irritated when other campmates used bowls and mugs for rice, claiming this made more washing up.
Yet, he survived multiple eliminations, as the public chose to keep him in the jungle. He made it down to the final three, partnering Shona McGarty and Tom Read Wilson.
For him, his time in the jungle was about stepping outside his usual atmosphere. With no connection to the outside world, Ginge went almost a month with no phone, tv, streaming or most importantly, no football results. Whilst being in the jungle, Ginge faced his fears and made immense personal growth.
His authenticity and relatability created a genuine connection for many viewers. Although his large online platform and followers seemed to have helped him along the way, a relatable and funny persona is always needed in such difficult conditions.
Winning the title of King of the Jungle, McGarty has been added to a long and prestigious list of fellow winners, such as Jill Scott, Georgia Toffolo and Tony Blackburn.
