Nearly 600 people are at risk of losing their job as Revolution Bars enters administration.
On Tuesday 27, the Revel Collective - the organisation that owns the Revolution brand - announced the closure of 21 venues and the loss of 591 jobs with challenges such as rising costs, lower consumer spending particularly among younger customers, and wider hospitality sector pressures leading to widespread downsizing.
Amongst the closures, Revolución de Cuba and Revolution in Manchester at Oxford Street and Parsonage Gardens are set to be included.
Despite the closures, parts of the business have been rescued through sales during administration with the Neos Hospitality Group acquiring the Revolución de Cuba and Revolution brands, saving 41 sites and around 1,582 jobs.
It comes amid a challenging period for the night-time entertainment sector, with figures released by the Night-time Association in 2023 revealing that across the UK, more than a quarter (26%) of towns and cities that had at least one nightclub in 2020 now have none at all.
