A body has been found in the water at Salford Quays.

Emergency services surround the scene where a body has been pulled from the water.

Greater Manchester Police and emergency services have placed a cordon around the Salford Quays area. The body was found and extracted from the Quays earlier this afternoon.

The scene is located near the Watersports Centre, with several emergency vehicles, such as fire engines and ambulances, surrounding the area. Police have closed the road between Winnipeg Quay to the Watersports Centre in both directions.

A spokesperson from the Greater Manchester Police have confirmed there has been no formal identification of the body taken place, and circumstances regarding the incident are to be confirmed.

A forensic tent was set up at 13:29 this afternoon, as well as areas near to the scene being blocked off with police tape and a major police cordon taking place.

The finding this afternoon has become the second body found in Salford Quays in the last month. A man was pulled from the water only a month ago, with a large police area for several days.

So far little information is known. More updates are to follow as information becomes available.
